Emergency Alert

Driving to the airport the red flashing lights of an ambulance, police and fire could be seen on the opposite side of the road.  One could only pray that those involved in the accident would be ok and be grateful for your own safety.

This year has been a very bad year for people falling around all the waterfalls in the Hamilton area.  Somehow people disregard the signs that tell you to stay on the path do not leave it because of danger.  Since 2005 there have been 163 rope rescues in the City of Hamilton.  People who ignore the signs.  People who take un necessary chances.  This year alone we have had 15 rope rescues.  Some of them are because people have been drinking or doing drugs others have made the mistake of thinking the climb would be easy.

We are so lucky in this country because we have amazing emergency response times.  Our police, fire and ambulance save lives every day.  All we have to do is dial 911 and help is on the way.  I have been the beneficiary of such help.  I was hit by a car while riding my bicycle out in the county.  The police and ambulance was there in what seemed like seconds and I was on my way to the hospital. I was one very grateful person.

Spiritual there are all kinds of warning signs of danger ahead.  The danger of greed, lust, anger, jealousy, addictions to mention a few are given to us from the word of God and from the Holy Spirit.  We choose to ignore the warning or to obey.  If we ignore the warning we are quickly in trouble.  Then we need to do a spiritual 911 call out to God.  His response time is perfect.  He responds with love and kindness.

This week we will be looking at Psalm 28 which is a 911 call to God.  David got himself into trouble once again.  David more than anyone else in the bible teaches us how to fail so God can succeed.  He opens his 911 call with these words.

Psalm 28:1 Don’t turn a deaf ear, when I call you, God.
If all I get from you is deafening silence, I’d be better of in the Black Hole.

Join us at the Spectator this week to hear God’s response.
