How Time Flies

I would like to say that I don’t have any time issues.  I love to say that I am always on top of my calendar but if I did my wife would call me out on it in a nano second.  Fact is that time seems to fly by every quickly.  Just yesterday Gail said to me that we have to start planning Christmas stuff.  Like getting out the Christmas decorations (last year we were in Florida and did not decorate at all).  I thought it was too early but then we sat down and she showed me on the calendar that there is only two weeks till the end of November and then we really get busy.

So time really seems to be flying by.  Our twin grandsons are already 3 years old.  I still thought they were babies.  Seems like I blinked and they no longer need a diaper, they can dress themselves, put on their own shoes, brush their teeth, turn the lights on and off (I mean a millions times) work the remote on the TV and change my apple watch face every time I am not looking.  (how they do it I don’t know)

Alex the oldest is reading Harry Potter, loves math and gets sent to the principles office just like I used to all the time.  I try to reassure his mother (my daughter) that he doing better than I did I went everyday he only goes a couple of times a month.  I went because of my fists and fighting and Alex only goes because his mouth gets him into trouble.  I tell her that he gets that part from her, she is not amused.  I don’t think I was that uptight as a parent.  I know I am a lot more relaxed as a grandfather.  How did that happen?

Time is moving along so fast and as I approach retirement I find myself saying I will do it tomorrow when I should have done it today.  I soon will have a job where I will never get a day off from it called retirement.  The clocks were set back and the days seem to be shorter than they were before.  I hate it when it gets dark by 4 pm.

King Solomon said it well in Ecclesiastes 3

There is a time for everything,
and everything on earth has its special season.
There is a time to be born
    and a time to die.
There is a time to plant
and a time to pull up plants.
There is a time to kill
    and a time to heal.
There is a time to destroy
    and a time to build.
There is a time to cry
    and a time to laugh.
There is a time to be sad
    and a time to dance.
There is a time to throw away stones
and a time to gather them.
There is a time to hug
and a time not to hug.
There is a time to look for something
and a time to stop looking for it.
There is a time to keep things
and a time to throw things away.
There is a time to tear apart
and a time to sew together.
There is a time to be silent
    and a time to speak.
There is a time to love
    and a time to hate.
There is a time for war
    and a time for peace.

So take a deep breath, relax, everything will be ok and you will survive this busy season just like you have every year since your were born.

Have a great Christmas season!!
