Jorrney Into the Unknown

Here we are 2018 a year where there is so many unknowns.  Not as many as there were 30 years ago.

Couples did not know the sex of their babies or the date they were to be born, both now can be determined before hand by the couple.  Or at least they can fairly early in the pregnancy know the sex of the child and then set the date for it to be born.  Once in a while they change dates on the parents but not often.

There is more certainty in when the next elections is going to be in Canada we know the next election year when the government is elected.

We still can’t know what things will surprise us in this new year.  There are surprises around the corner many of them are going be wonderful surprises like someone getting married or having a baby or getting a promotion.  You may win the lottery and quit your job and travel the world.  One of your children may win a scholarship or invent something new.  They might become a world class artist or write a best seller that will launch their careers.

We can’t know what will being sadness to our hearts.  Death, cancer, an accident, a company that closes and you lose your job are just some of the things we can’t know in advance.

We need to take the good with the bad as they say.

My hope is that nothing bad happens in this next year and that your sadness will be outside of your families reality but none of us can make that happen.

For the last 53 years I have faced every year with the calm assurance that God’s grace will be enough for whatever I face. If I success there will be enough grace to make me humble.  If I fail terribly his grace will cover my sin and my shame and I will be loved totally.

2 Corinthians 12:9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.

I hope whatever unknown things happen this year, you will experience the grace in greater measure than ever before.
