Love Me Do

The Beatles sang a song called Love Me Do.  The lyrics are:

Love, love me do
You know I love you
I’ll always be true
So please, love me do
Whoa, love me do

Love, love me do
You know I love you
I’ll always be true
So please, love me do
Whoa, love me do

This is a simple song, a song that we all want to experience in our lives.  We want to have someone know that we love them, we want to be faithful in our love and we want to have that love returned.  I want that!

Here the problem I want to be that kind of man but I am not.  I am not always true.  Love sometimes is lost in frustration, anxiety, self doubt, bitterness kills love very time, being tired and grumpy makes me appear unloving (I want to deny it but I am not loving when I am grumpy).  Bottom line none of us are able to love the way we want to or to be loved by another person he way we need to be love.

Recently people have come out critical of churches who have shown a lack of love.  The critics are people who don’t attend church.  Some would say they don’t know what they are talking about.  When in reality they do know what they are talking about and God has given them the right to judge the church’s ability to love.  Basically the church has failed to love me do as well.

The rest of the world who do not follow Christ would rather spend their money on themselves or on war.  They also can’t love me do.

Only Jesus has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that he has what it takes to love me do.  Only Jesus loves me when I am full of greed, murderous thoughts, lust and anger.  Most of the people who should love me do run away from me when I am in one of those states.   Not Jesus he runs after me.  He protects me from doing irreparable damage to myself and to others.

The love that I need and the love that I want to give is found in Jesus and none other.  Take the time to be honest with yourself about how loving you really are and how much you need love in your life.
