Out of the Ordinary

There are a lot of things in the last year that seem to be out of the ordinary.

Fires in BC and California

Flooding in Ontario, Italy, Houston, and other places.

Politics in the United States

How sexual predators are punished

Lots of things seem to be out of the ordinary.  Many of them are not good.  There are some that are very special.

How compassionate people can do to a special needs child.

Paralympic athletes who over come pain and suffering to achieve excellence

Doctors who create a cure for a small suffering segment of the world

Police officiers who save a person life by risking their own

We love these kinds of stories.  We hope that if we are sick or in an accident someone will save us in a heroic moment.

Well the good news if someone has saved us during our moment of need.  Mankind of full of selfishness.  We worship ourselves.  We care only about what affects us or those we love.  We think we have the answers fo the problems in the world.  (Once you get old you know you have no answers)

The most out of the ordinary thing that has ever happened in human history is found in Luke.  It is this crazy idea that God would become a man and take all of the punishment we deserve and replace it with his grace.

26 In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a town of Galilee called Nazareth, 27 to a virgin engaged to a man whose name was Joseph, a descendant of David, and the virgin’s name was Mary. 28 The angel came to her and said, “Greetings, favored one, the Lord is with you!” 29 But she was greatly troubled by his words and began to wonder about the meaning of this greeting. 30 So the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God!

31 Listen: You will become pregnant and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus. 32 He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of his father David. 33 He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and his kingdom will never end.” 34 Mary said to the angel, “How will this be, since I have not had sexual relations with a man?” 35 The angel replied, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore the child to be born will be holy; he will be called the Son of God.  (Luke 1:28-30)

If you don’t believe this you are in good company many never believe.  If you are sick of the direction of your life.

Sick of faking being happy

Sick of trying to be nice to people you hate

Sick of  living in this rat race

Then maybe this is not so crazy an idea. Explore God’s goodness by going to church this week you may find something that you did not expect.
