  • Rev. Melissa Memmott
    Rev. Melissa Memmott Senior Pastor
Melissa is wife, mother of 3 little lovelies under 4, and lead pastor at Graceworks Baptist Church. Born in Bradford, Melissa committed her life to Christ and following His lead at a young age. Melissa graduated from McMaster University with a B.A Honours in Linguistics and English, and went on to complete a Masters of Linguistics and Exegesis (MLE) and a Masters of Divinity (MDiv) from the Canadian Baptist Seminary (ACTS Seminaries) in Langley, BC. After living 5 years in the “Fort”, Fort Langley, BC, and traveling to Guatemala and Rwanda, she returned to Ontario, married her husband, and became an ordained minister with the Canadian Baptists of Ontario and Quebec.

Melissa loves the journey of faith and the discovery of Jesus. She seeks to passionately love Jesus and compassionately love his people. She loves worshiping the Trinity, preaching the Good News, and teaching disciples of all ages to hear His voice and do what He says. Melissa loves being surprised by God and the ways the Holy Spirit weaves people and situations and conversations. She is amazed how grace is based on nothing we have done, but rather entirely on what Jesus has done on the cross. She is often envisioning new ways to love, invite, and challenge disciples of all ages.

Melissa loves engaging in deep conversations, playing with her kids, drinking great coffee (once a Canadian Barista Championship competitor), tending to her garden, and helping her husband reconstruct their 1850 home in Paris.

    Christopher Clause Worship Pastor

Christopher Clause is a husband, father, musician and worship pastor who has a passion for God, his family, music and the city of Hamilton. Born in Hamilton and raised in Grimsby, he moved back to Hamilton after marrying his childhood sweetheart. He received his Bachelor of Music degree (summa cum laude) at McMaster University, studying Classical Guitar with Lynne Gangbar and Peter McAllister. He then received his Bachelor of Education degree at the University of Toronto and then taught music for ten years. Through his struggles and failures both personally and professionally, Christopher says, “God has been merciful to me, showing me grace that I had never experienced before. I continually live in the shadow of His grace.”

He has been the worship pastor at Graceworks (formerly James Street Baptist) since 2002. During this time he has been active in the local music community staging tribute shows to raise money for Out of the Cold and Gracenotes (a benevolent initiative to help local artists create and release their own records) as well as producing, performing and recording his own music. In 2015 he and his soulmate Rose-Frances celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary, and they have two beautiful children: Emma and Riley. When he is not leading worship or performing you can find him browsing in a record store or at home spinning vinyl.
